Studying outside of your comfort zone is where you really get to know yourself.

My internship at Mountains of the Moon University

Afraid but sure I left together with 4 other students to Uganda. This was the start of my international experience and internship. I am doing my internship at Mountains of the Moon University (MMU) in Fort Portal.  I’m working on an online learning platform for the students at the university.

Being here for 3 months really opens your eyes because the life in Africa isn’t comparable to European life. Life here is more quiet and the people here are very friendly and open. Still, you need to adapt to the way of life here. You learn to handle working with limited resources, which results in out-of-the-box thinking, but this is important in the ICT sector. Even outside the work part of the day it is different being here. Every day, there are people who are surprised to see us. A lot of children also yell 'Muzungu' at us, which is the word for white people in African language.

An international experience gives you so much positive and amazing experiences that you will never forget. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you shouldn’t let go to waste. And last but not least, it is a challenging experience where you need to step outside of your comfort zone.
