Promoting active deep learning in Water Resources using MOOCs

Ongoing

This project aims at improving the water resources management capabilities stakeholders by promoting active learning using massive open online courses (MOOCs). During the first year an existing MOOC on irrigation efficiency will be implemented as a local private course by the partners. In addition training will be provided both in educational capacities towards deep learning and ICTS/audio visual technical aspects needed for a MOOC developments and implementation. During the second year the project consortium will develop a new MOOC on integrated water resources management. The partners will implement a novel educational approach activating the students towards active deep learning. This has advantages for part-time and non-resident students (via distance learning) but tries to overcome isolation by flipped classroom after pre-class preparation based on the MOOC. The project will evaluate the educational impact and will also formulate recommendations for the implementation of MOOCs in a development cooperation context.
