A Cuban National School of Neurotechnology for Cognitive Aging

Ongoing

Cuba shares with other countries the lack of research and development capabilities for the implementation of diagnostic tools and practice guidelines for the prevention and early diagnosis of dementia. The project aims at the increase of the scientific and academic level of the partner institutions, through joint research with recognized specialists, and to implement a Cuban National School of Neurotechnology for Cognitive Aging (NSNCA) which will catalyze Cuban academic and R&D capacities in neurodiagnosis. To support the Cuban healthcare system, the NSNCA will generate an affordable ICT platform (e-Caregiver) to provide the elderly and/or their caregivers with tools for monitoring and modifying behavioral/physiological profiles based on Brain-Body Imaging that allow longer preservation of cognitive health in aging subjects (with the consequent social, medical and economic benefits).  Sustainability will be guaranteed with marketable products tested in a municipality, enablingCuba as a model for the developing world with respect to dealing with an aging population.

This is a resubmission of the project from the previous year, improved and modified according to the suggestion of the reviewers and the committee.
