The advanced Master in Development Evaluation and Management assesses the strengths and weaknesses of prevailing development paradigms and provides methodological and practical insights into different actors and institutions, from local to international level. You will be equipped with multidisciplinary analytical tools that enable you to confidently conduct academic research on development policies and programmes using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods.
The elective courses in this programme address a selection of the most pressing issues in contemporary development practice, including natural resources, migration, gender and development, land access and tenure, climate finance and the ‘greening’ of aid, and access to public goods and services.
The programme offers two tracks with specific objectives and course packages, intended for different audiences. The first track focuses on analysis of interaction between national institutions, local politics and external actors. Participants show a strong interest in macro-level policy research, and aspire to a career in civil society, or with donor agencies, NGOs or government institutions. The second track looks at the influence of local contexts and actors on the planning, implementation and M&E of development interventions. Participants show a strong interest in micro-/meso-level policy research or grassroots organisations.
